"Dolce Mug" Altered Item by Shannon Morgan using Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs from Piggy Tales

I had this mug waiting to be altered and I saw these papers and thought how sweet! It was perfect!!! I covered the mug with dark purple paper from the Piggy Tales kit (Fairest of All). I smoothed it out and then distressed the edges. Once the glue dried, I outlined the mug with a white paint pen and a black pen to give it some dimension. I then measured two strips of paper to add to the top and bottom of the mug. I used Mirror, Mirror to do this....I distressed the edges before adhering the bottom to the cup. Again, once dried I outlined the edges with my white and black pen. To make the top a little more special, I hand drew scallops and then cut the edge out. After the edge was cut I used a hole punch to make the "lacey" effect. I also distressed the edges before gluing it down to the mug. It dried and I outlined the scallop and dots for more dimension. I next set to finishing the design of the mug.....and saw that the rubons were perfect for the handle of the mug and added them to the handle in a pattern. I then tied a bow with the ric rac provided in the kit, for an extra flirty touch. I thought this would look perfect in my daughter's room and she is sweet (most of the time!) and she's Italian -- thus -- dolce, which means sweet in Italian for anyone who may not know that :)! I hand drew the word dolce and cut it out with my craft knife, I used the patterned side of Fairest of All. I then distressed the edges and backed it with one of the other fun papers from the kit....and cut it with a kraft knife as well. I distressed and inked the edges and adhered it to the mug. After letting it dry, I outlined the letters as well. I then used the awesome rubons and created the pattern you see on the mug...outlined them and added jewels that I had on hand. I then created the swirls by hand drawing them onto chipboard first. I cut them out and added the coordinating side of Mirror, Mirror to the swirls. I then backed a piece of chipboard with Fairest of All and placed my cut out swirls onto it.....and outlined and hand cut them out again......giving them stability and more dimension....I outlined and inked the swirls and I added a few dips of paint to make it seem more steamy. After gluing the swirls to the back of the mug, adding a little more ric rac at the bottom of the mug, I Modge Podged the whole project to give a sheen and to protect it as well. Thank you so much for looking!
